How did you start in triathlon? | I was a runner but then I had a really bad knee injury. I took up cycling and swimming to keep fit while I couldnt run. Then I wanted to celebrate getting back to running with a triathlon race. I was hooked from there! |
What do you carry on a long ride? | Good tunes; 90g of carbohydrate for each hour in chews form; water with precision hydration (1500 of salt per 500ml); spare underlayer and gillet depending on the weather; phone; money; credit card; headphones; lip ice |
Favorite place to train | At home in Johannesburg, the riding is so continuous. I have my swim squad here, the weather is amazing and we are at altitude. Oh, and I can see lions and giraffes when I run. |
Dream vacation spot | White River in South Africa, so we can take our dogs with us. |
Films or TV you love | 10 Things I Hate About You; Without Limits |
Favorite book | Jason Robinson's autobiogaphy "Finding My Feet" |
Words to live by | Give more to the world than you took... And train with the fight of the underdog so you can race with the confidence of a champion. |
